1. Is There A Cost For CSA Prepstar To Provide This Service?

There is a cost for the service but it's extremely affordable and just a very tiny fraction of what the cheapest college education would cost. When you receive all the information we have for you, you'll see the entire process and understand how it works.

College coaches, even the big Division 1 teams are only allowed a maximum of $5000 for all their recruiting each year! Divisions 2 & 3 are even less. That's not a lot of money. The chances of a college coach being able to find you and recruit you is between 'slim' and 'none'.

This is the reason that the parents of the athlete pay us a fee. College rules won't allow coaches to do this. The good news is that it's the parents and athlete who benefit the most. You pay a small one-time-only fee and we seek out the scholarship opportunities for you (plus all the other work we do for you that's mentioned on the home page). The fee you pay is only a tiny fraction of the cost of a college education - it's well worth the investment.

2. I've Seen Other Companies That Will Place A Student Athletes Profile On The Internet For A Fee, Is This What CSA Prepstar Does?

No, not at all.

CSA Prepstar is a one-of-a-kind student athlete recruiting company. We are completely different from all others. Yes, there are quite a few companies that will list your athletic information on the internet and charge either a one-time fee or a monthly fee but it's just not the same thing.

Here's a brief summary of what we do:

  1. We identify potential student-athletes that may have the ability to compete at the collegiate level. This is done by using many different techniques and processes;

  2. We then pre-qualify the student-athletes and verify both the academic and athletic information.

  3. After this is complete, we create a profile for you. This information gets to college coaches by regular mail, email as well as being placed in the CSA Prepstar Clearinghouse. Through the Clearinghouse, the 23,000 coaches who are registered with us can access your complete profile on a regular basis.

  4. We continue sending information by email every 45 days along with regular hard-copy mailings as well. In addition, we have a strong relationship with all college coaches and are in regular phone conversations with them.

  5. Through our partners we provide free athletic training plus much more free academic and athletic help worth hundreds of dollars in order to help all student-athletes perform at the top of their game both athletically and academically.

  6. We do approximately 95% of the work for the coaches. All they have to do is review the information we have supplied to them and contact the parents and student-athletes.

  7. We do approximately 95% of the work for the parents and student-athletes. All that you have left to do is accept an offer or decline it and move on the next college offer. Once you have all come to an agreement all that’s left is to sign the papers.

  8. We are here to counsel and advise you through every step. It takes a lot of work and a lot of time to get a sports scholarship. You can’t expect to take short-cuts and succeed.

CSA Prepstar has millions of dollars invested in our unique recruiting business with over 27 years of success.

As you can now see, we are nothing like any company that puts your profile online for a fee. There is simply no other college athlete recruiting company that can do for you what we can.

3. How Do You Know If I'm A Good Enough Athlete?

As far as knowing if you're a good enough athlete. We rely on information we receive from you to make an initial evaluation. For example, you would have to at the very least be a starter on your team with notable accomplishments that can be verified.

We also contact your coach for further information; Review at least one video of one of your games; have our scouts evaluate you during a game or event; etc.

4. Do Grades Matter If I'm A Very Good Athlete?

Yes, your grades have to be above average. Even if you are the best athlete in your entire league, city, province, etc. if your grades don't measure up, you can't be recruited.

5. I Participate In A Sport That's Not Listed On Your Home Page, Can I Still Benefit From CSA Prepstar?

Unfortunately, at this time if your sport is not listed then it's not eligible for any type of scholarship opportunities. Most sports are covered, but ones such as figure skating and any others we don't have listed, aren't at this time.

6. I Graduated From High School A Couple Years Ago, Do I Still Qualify For A Sports Scholarship?

This is a tougher question to answer. If you graduated with great grades and have continued to participate in your sport, there may be a possibility. What you have to do is use our contact form and explain your situation. We will then work with our Corporate Office in Los Angeles to see if we can come up with a solution for you.

We can't always help, but it doesn't hurt to ask.

7. I Am A Multi Sport Athlete, Can I Try To Be Recruited In More Than One Sport?

Yes, if you are a very strong athlete in more than one sport, this is a possibility. Although if you are stronger in one sport, we recommend you stick with it. We will have to provide you with additional information but you can go ahead and fill out your Evaluation Profile.

8. At What Age Or Grade Should I Start Looking Into Getting Recruited?

For the most part we recommend starting in grade 10 or at least by grade 11. Some people feel comfortable enough with their child's athletic and academic ability to start by grade 9, although in Canada, usually just hockey players will fall into this category (since most have been playing the sport for years).

For most other sports played in Canada, since student-athletes really don't get very serious about their sport/schooling until they start grade 9, then it's usually best to get one full year completed in high school to make sure it's a sport they want to continue with.

Grade 12 is still good of course, with the only exception being less time available to promote athletes to college coaches. Most college coaches want to keep track of athletes through grades 10, 11 and 12.

9. Is Grade 12 Too Late To Start Looking For A Sports Scholarship?

It may be, depending on when during your grade 12 year you start the process. The main difference is the time available to promote you to college coaches.

Usually by the end of November each year, most coaches will have their roster for the next year finalized.

You can start looking at any time during your 12th grade year, but we recommend starting in earlier grades if possible.

10. Would I Have A Better Chance Of Receiving A Sports Scholarship If I Transferred To A USA High School?

No, it doesn't make any difference. In fact you can hurt your chances by moving to a USA high school rather than staying in Canada.

The only things that matter are your academic ability and your athletic ability. Canadian high school athletes are just as good as American high school athletes. Canadians are recruited just the same as Americans - there's no difference.

However, by transferring to a USA high school you can actually lessen your chances. How? Well take for example a high school football player.

If you transfer to a USA high school, you will have less of a chance of getting noticed because there are over 1 million high school football players to pick from in the USA system each year!

In addition to that, the only way you would benefit would be to look for a high school that is ranked very high nationally. Your chances of being accepted to such a school would be almost zero because of the extremely large pool of players those schools have available.

High schools in the USA do not want to take away positions from their own local students. They want team rosters filled up with local players.

The only exceptions to this rule would be sports that are not very popular in certain high schools in the United States where they need to find players just to fill out the roster.

In conclusion, you are much better staying in a Canadian high school, perfecting your sport so you get noticed here; improving your grades; getting involved in extracurricular activities and letting us promote you to college coaches throughout your high school career.

11. Couldn't My High School Coach Or Phys. Ed. Teacher Get Me Noticed By A College? My High School Coach Says He Can Do This. Why Would I Need A Service Such As CSA Prepstar?

While some high school coaches have the best of intentions, there's not one that can perform the same service as CSA Prepstar. Coaches do not have the time or the resources to be able to contact over 2,000 schools and 17,000 coaches year after year during your high school career.

Unlike coaches / teachers or your own parents, who could only contact a couple schools on your behalf, we have over 2,000 schools and 23,000 coaches registered with us who rely on us to find the athletes for them.

The student-athletes who rely on coaches / teachers or their own parents have less than a 1% success rate. Compare that to CSA Prepstar with over a 92% success rate over the past 27 years!

CSA Prepstar Testimonials

I would like to personally thank you for your service and efforts in helping Renee acquire a golf scholarship to Barry University in Miami. I highly recommend CSA Prepstar to any parent of a student athlete who desires an edge in a very competitive market. Sincerely, Ron Trudeau

This is FYI. Melanie accepted the University of Nevada at Reno's offer for full golf scholarship. The athletic director is scheduling a signing at the campus.

She received full offers from: San Jose State - Fresno State - UC Riverside - and partial scholarships (more than 50%) from Cal State Long Beach - Cal Poly San Luis Obispo - University of San Francisco just to name a few.

CSA really helped with exposing Melanie to the mid-west and eastern schools as well. Thanks for all CSA’s help! Carlos de Leon

Colleen and I want to take this time to thank CSA for your time and service. Brendan has accepted a football scholarship from Northwestern University.

Your service does indeed work. We have had several conversations with division I colleges. Wofford College in South Carolina and Indiana State are just two of many that named CSA as the initial point of contact. The Smith Family

I just want to let you know how much I appreciated all of your help this past year with Steven's recruiting process. The recruiting experience can be long, frustrating, and confusing.

The services that CSA offer greatly eased the stress that a parent and family may feel during this time. You were a great help in giving advice about when and how to go through the stages of the recruitment journey. Steven received a full football scholarship to ECU this fall. I hope you feel a part of our success in reaching this goal.

Please let me know if I can be of any help to you in discussing with any families how satisfied and impressed I was with CSA service and professionalism. Thanks again for all you help. Steven G. Rogers M.D.

I just got back from a recruiting trip in Iowa. There I signed with Div. 2 NAIA Graceland University in Lamoni, Iowa. I am really excited to get to play basketball at Graceland university. I want to thank you very much for all that you've done! You helped so much in the college search and college interest! Thank You so, so much! Brittany Sliger

We want to thank CSA. Our son Jonah received a football scholarship to Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, in Division 1-A. CSA is a valuable service and resource to anyone looking for a way to match their academic and athletic abilities to schools in all divisions.

Jonah’s goal was to earn a Division 1 scholarship with a good school. The advice and exposure that CSA gave him was invaluable, since he was coming from a very small high school. We are happy to recommend CSA to anyone with children who have aspirations of pursuing a college scholarship. John Russell

Allen has two more offers one from UCLA and one from Arizona State and more to come!!We have already had an offer from Ole Miss. We continue to be impressed by the number of responses and interest we are getting from the Major programs across the USA. Thank you, CSA has done so much for him. Sincerely, The Bradford Family

My name is Mark Mosby. I have signed a Letter of Intent to play football at the Air Force Academy. Thank you for all your help with exposing me to help get me recruited. I would recommend CSA Prepstar to any one that is looking for a edge in the recruiting process.

I was contacted by over 30 colleges Div I, II, III, NAIA and Ivy League. CSA did a excellent job in helping me get recruited. Thank you, Mark Mosby

I’ve been very busy with visits and talking to coaches. I just recently took a visit to both Princeton and Columbia, in which I loved both. I have two more visits scheduled (Cornell, and Rhode Island), but I am contemplating canceling them, due to the fact that I am almost 100% sure I want to go to Columbia.

Thank you for all your work you have done for me this past year, as I appreciate it greatly. You have done a wonderful job. I will let you know about anyone that could use your assistance in the recruiting process. Thanks again, Tim Paulin
